Postdoctoral Scholar in the Humanities and Social Change Center

Bio

Melissa M. Parks earned her PhD in Communication at the University of Utah, as well as an MA in Communication at the University of New Mexico. Her academic work also draws from her BA education in Creative Writing at the University of California, Riverside. Melissa is currently a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Humanities and Social Change Center at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and her scholarship uses a critical rhetorical lens to explore the intersections of science, health, and the environment.

She is pleased to be joining the UCSB Department of Communication during her visit to teach courses on Communicating Science and the Environment (Winter 2021) and Ecocultural Communication (Spring 2021).
