Muniba Saleem was awarded an Intersectional Justice Faculty Support Grant by the Division of Social Sciences. These funds will support faculty research that advances principles of intersectional justice, broadly defined. The common thread in much of this research is its ability to illuminate various processes of differentiation, structural privilege/disadvantage, inequality, oppression, and resistance.
Professor Saleem’s project examines the role of White nationalist social media in motivating collective action among White Americans. While the role of digital platforms in facilitating the U.S. Capitol riot is a recent and highly visible example, support for far-right extremist groups and ideologies on and offline is increasing.
