Daniel Linz

My research and teaching reside at the intersection of media, sexuality, and law. I have a long-standing commitment to empirical research and its societal implications. A recurring theme is the analysis of the societal impact of sexually explicit media. I have extensively studied the effects of exposure to pornography, erotic expression in dancers, and the behavioral implications of viewing sexually explicit films. I frequently aim to engage in studies debunking legal assumptions, especially in the context of adult businesses and their so-called secondary effects. Several studies indicate that the perceived associations between adult businesses and crime might be overstated, and the regulatory basis for these businesses often lacks empirical support. My research also explores media's portrayal of crime and race, pointing out discrepancies in representation and potential biases in televised news. Online behavior, privacy, and aggression in the context of the internet also form part of my research interests, hopefully shedding light on newer technological developments and their implications for societal behavior.
